Birthday Post: A Reflection On 33 Years Of Love & Relationship Lessons
Yesterday was my 33rd birthday! I enjoyed it at an amusement park with my fiancé. The previous day on August 17th, my fiancé and I drove out to another state to attend a concert. I can honestly say that this birthday was the best one yet. My fiancé put effort and thought into helping make this birthday amazing and I am very grateful. Birthdays are a time for reflection in regards to how far we’ve come, what we’ve accomplished and what we still want to aim for and achieve. In love and relationships, I’ve learned a lot over 33 years of life.
In my twenties, I wanted to be involved in a worthwhile long-term relationship, but didn’t know where to start. Where do I find someone? How am I guaranteed to have a great relationship? Knowing the answers to these questions and more was more than half the battle on this journey in love.
I was able to identify who I was and be comfortable with myself, but finding someone that had similar goals and was comfortable with me proved to be a challenge.
The solidity of my own values helped me to navigate love and my relationships. I had integrity, honesty, boldness, authenticity, faith, happiness, loyalty, openness and respect. I didn’t second guess myself when something didn’t feel right anymore, I let it go. I didn’t hold onto somebody for…
