How I Was Assured Of My Relationship

I had gone through a very rocky dating process. I would think that things were going good with a guy then I would get “dropped.” I would be my authentic self and then I was rejected. I remember having to prepare mentally for myself to recover from rejection time and time again. In October 2016, I started talking to the man that I now call my fiancé. We started seeing each other and continued to see each other. I spent the holidays with him and his family.

I wanted to be assured that things would work out with us, but my dating past and history taught me that I couldn’t trust most men. I wanted the peace of mind and security in feeling like I’d actually have a healthy, functioning relationship.

We lived an hour away from each other. We would see each other when I would get off work or when I would have an off day. I worked full time and overtime so getting time to spend with each other proved to be a challenge. I was also tired from all of the driving as well as dealing with my job.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. We had a strong interest in each other and a connection. We had our similarities, but also our differences.

We continued to see each other. We regularly texted each other. We regularly called each other. We regularly video chatted. We made sure to be consistent in our communication as well…
