Real Talk: Are You Willing To Receive Love From Others?

There is this idea out there that to some degree everyone wants love. Some people will be hard on themselves and not show love towards themselves or others. Sometimes receiving love can be difficult if we’ve experienced difficult relationships, have experienced trauma or view ourselves in a harsh way in love.

We may want to be loved, but our actions are not reflecting that we can be accepting of love from others. We may have to deal with a mental battle in our heads in terms of going back and forth with ourselves about why we haven’t found love yet or maybe we can’t get away from the idea that we are unlovable because various flaws about us have been pointed out.

When we hold onto negative views about ourselves, it can be hard to find ourselves lovable. We may get these views from strangers that don’t even know us and make remarks in passing, family or co-workers that have specific outlooks on us as people.

We are the ones that know ourselves best. Other people are looking through their own lenses of life, may have completely different mindsets and may not even find themselves lovable at the end of the day. Being open to love involves acceptance of ourselves as well as openness to new love possibilities.
