The Importance Of Feeling Special In Your Relationships

One of my not-so-favorite childhood memories happened at 5th grade camp. The camp counselors were there and they had a body spray mist. Some of the girls were looking and feeling excited as they walked through the mist. As the girls walked through the mist, they felt and looked happy with smiles on their faces. During this, I felt uncomfortable. It was like a special event happening and I wasn’t invited because I wasn’t special enough. I was an onlooker. This was my interpretation of the event. At this time, I was shy, quiet and read a lot of books.

We all desire to feel special, but people can make us feel less than or circumstances can happen that make us question ourselves. When we question who we are or are made to feel less than the people that we feel that we are, we feel devalued and unloved.

When we set our standards low in our relationships, we will be the ones that will suffer.

Why settle for less when you can have something great? When we invest our time and energy into a relationship, we should be looking for signs of reciprocation right away.
