The Life Of A Catfish: Excuses, Excuses

I was watching the latest episode of “Catfish: The TV Show” with my fiancé. The episode involved a woman trying to figure out who she was talking to. The guy would not meet her even after she gave out her address and sent money to this man. He had catfished over a hundred different woman. He was not using his own pictures and using a different name. When he was finally found, he started lying to the camera immediately and then backtracking when his lies were not being believed.

Truth and reality are desired in a relationship, but the other person in a relationship can intentionally distort the truth. When you find out that the other person has led you on or lied to you, you can feel horribly violated and untrusting towards others after this breach of trust.

The woman in this Catfish episode had sent this male catfish hundreds of dollars. From what she knew, he was going through a hard time. When Nev, the host, and the woman asked more questions to this man, the woman realized how the reality was different from what she thought. She had to leave the room because the emotions of sadness, frustration and the shock of finding out that she had been victimized and taken advantage of were too much to handle and process.
