What Makes Someone “Hot”?!

Growing up, I remember when girls would be really overjoyed to be acknowledged by an attractive guy. It was a sign by association that you were special or hot if you were accepted by someone really pretty or good looking. This is all superficial in reality. Attractiveness and what makes someone special is all relative. Beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder.

Growing up as a teenager, I desired to feel that feeling of being special, but what made other people my age desirable was mostly superficial based. They could have money or very attractive looks. I had neither. I spent a lot of time alone in a depressed state because there was nothing that I felt that I had that made me special.

I would watch these other teenagers around me make terrible decisions, act out of angst and do things to get the attention of others. I didn’t think I would make it out of this phase of my life alive. I was tired of dealing with my peers that were so misguided.

When we talk about someone being hot, it has a lustful connotation to it. What is hot is all relative. Sometimes there’s judgment involved and a fear that if there isn’t conformity to a group that you’ll be an “outcast” or unaccepted as a part of a group. Social dynamics are more involved in high school with dating because you are surrounded by your peers most of the time. The same mentality of…
